When we got back to the hotel, we forgot to get the room key from our friend. Around 1am on the 15th, a couple of my friends including me decided to go back to the hotel room while a few others went to the store while it was pouring down rain. My friends and I were treated very badly during our stay on August 14-15th. Shame he wasn’t on duty when we checked in! … Staff member at checkout was much more friendly and personable. At one point we shared the elevator with a staff member who didn’t have the courtesy to wear his mask, which I must add is illegal as per DC law. Mask wearing by staff members was also hit and miss. Wasn’t given any coffee cups by housekeeping so went to ask for some, only to be told “we don’t have many so the most we can give you is two cups”. Construction across the road was a bit noisy though and also worth noting is pthe AC unit made weird noises. Bathroom was in need of a bit of care (eg the sealant around the shower was broken and mouldy in places). Weird for a hotel of such a size not to have any housekeeping, but nevermind. We were also told housekeeping was “not available” so our room would not be cleaned throughout our stay. Not a great impression after travelling 12 hours from overseas to get to this hotel. Our first room had not been cleaned from the previous occupant, and after dragging our heavy luggage up and back down again to reception the staff member didn’t even care to apologise for the inconvenience. Trying to make small talk at checkin was met with dead silence. …įirst impressions are the staff could be more friendly. It's not worth the risk and there's something very odd going on at this place. I realize my situation is rare but strongly recommend you find a different place. When I reached out to the local hotel management about this situation, they essentially denied accountability of the situation. He then said we were being evicted from the hotel and took our belongings to the street. During all of this, Maurice shoved my wife and others in the elevator. The gentleman in the elevator left the hotel before authorities arrived and never came back. All involved spoke with the police and EMTs for close to two hours. Police and EMTs arrived and the girl was eventually taken to the hospital. After asking Maurice three times to call for help, another employee finally called for help. Keep in mind, the girl was incoherent, lying in the corner of an elevator and did not have shoes on. Maurice at the front desk told us to "stop making a scene" and said the girl could "make her own decisions". Something felt wrong so we sent the elevator back down to the first floor and asked the front desk to call for help. When we asked about her condition the gentleman she was with said she was fine and "just had a long night." We noticed scratches on his face and when questioned, changed his demeanor. When entering the elevator around midnight on a Friday night, my wife and I saw a girl lying unconscious in the corner of the elevator with no shoes or belongings. Honestly the worst experience I've ever had at a hotel before. Parking? well, it’s DC space is at a premium. while like most of DC you’ll find some questionable people wandering the area later In the day, it does feel generally safe. The common areas seem newer and modern but again lacking the attention to detail. The Staff was okay and accommodating but with a slight air of rude and self righteousness. I know, it doesn’t make sense in a covid post pandemic time. Sadly that will be the case for most hotels, in this day and age. Don’t bring a black light with you or you will surely check in and check right out. Rooms need attention to detail and are generally dirty. This hotel while seemingly higher tier needs some general upkeep. Why work when the Govt pays me more to stay home? And you want how much to be a front desk agent? Nonetheless…. To make matters worse, finding consistent staffing is impossible. Unfortunately I don’t believe the customer satisfaction has stayed on par with pre COVID era. Hotels are trying to recoop monies lost in 2020 and room rates are at an all time high. I work in the hospitality industry and have noticed a lack of follow through in customer satisfaction post covid 19. So, take this review as my perception of this hotel. I understand that perception is often times subjective and based on experiences.
